NCJI RANKING SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

North Carolina Judo Inc. sets the following standards for state judo rankings for the state of North Carolina.  In order to be eligible for points the following requirements must be met:

1.      You must be a current member in good standing with North Carolina Judo Inc.

2.      You must be a current member in good standing with USA Judo.

3.      You must be a resident of North Carolina and lived in the state for at least 1 year.

4.      A judoka can only gain points by participating in USA Judo sanctioned tournaments.

5.      Judoka must abide by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) standards.  Any athlete suspected of using illegal drugs in accordance with USADA will be asked to take a drug test at their own cost in order to receive points and funding.

Athletes should initially submit their point cards electronically within 1 week following an event. This can be done by clicking here Point Card Submission. You must be an NCJI member in order to submit a Point Card.

To become a member of NCJI click here NCJI Membership. Once a person becomes a member, they are sent via e-mail a user name and password along with a link to a PDF version of their NCJI membership card. The user name and password is required when logging on to submit a point card.

NCJI must receive a paper copy of the point cards SIGNED BY THE ATHLETE'S COACH by mail no longer than 1 month after a tournament.

Please send all paper copies of point cards to the NCJI Treasurer/Secretary at the following address:
Jason Russell
1811 Bivins St.
Durham, NC 27707

After all paperwork is received, then points will be officially posted and recorded.

·        In the event that two athletes from the same weight category have equal points, than a play-off match will occur to break the tie.

·        A judoka can only be allowed points for one weight class unless they are approved for two categories by the NCJI board of directors.  Juniors are the special case in this instance.  Because juniors are constantly growing their weight category is subject to change.  The NCJI board of directors needs to be notified before any judoka gains points because of change in weight.

·        If a competitor chooses to fight in two weight divisions at one tournament, points will only be granted for the judokas true weight category.

·        Judoka can only receive points for one category or level of competition, meaning junior, senior or masters level.

·        If a competitor has to fight up a weight category because of a lack of competitors at a tournament than points may be accumulated, but they must be awarded to their regular weight class. (A tournament director’s signature is needed to verify the lack of competitors.)

·        If a tournament has non-traditional weight classes such as light, medium and heavy weight divisions, than a competitor will still receive points, but they must be awarded to their regular weight class. (Verification from the tournament director is needed to earn points).

·        80% of North Carolina Judo Inc. membership dues will go towards funding athletes.

·        Judoka participating in master’s divisions will not be eligible for NCJI funding.

·        Funding will be allocated every year, which will be determined by the NCJI board of directors.

·        Points are accumulated on a yearly basis.  Points cannot be rolled over to the following year.

·        After funding is allocated to athletes all points will be cleared.

·        Judoka with the highest points for their weight category will be eligible for funding.

·        Funding is dependent on eligibility of funding and voted on by the NCJI board of directors.
