Message From NCJI President Ron Hansen

This is indeed an exciting time for North Carolina Judo Incorporated members. Your elected officials have initiated new programs with an outstanding web site thanks to the work of your Promotion Chairperson Woody Bostic, head instructor for the NITO Judo club. Jason Russell, your NCJI Secretary Treasurer, has developed a point system for NCJI competitors. Together with Woody they have devised a program to return membership fees to NCJI competitors with the most points. Importantly, they were able to develop the program to serve both seniors and juniors.

Our web site will feature NCJI promotions, profiles of NCJI coaches, athletes and clubs. Featured articles concerning

conditioning, and most interesting the throwing and groundwork methods of our most accomplished NCJI athletes will also be featured. Soon you will be receiving a message that the website is up and running and the site address.

An example of the forward thinking of our Board is the commitment to recognize those promoted by our Group B organization of USA Judo. So, a new Kyu grade senior promotion certificate has been designed and you can view that excellent work on our web site. Those members promoted to USA/NCJI Kyu grades can show their accomplishment by this excellent designed certificate. Remember that your NCJI is authorized by USA judo to promote Dan grades up to and including San-Dan.

Since this is a work in progress, the site will change and improve from time to time, but the initial effort has been tremendous, which I’m sure you will all agree.

Our NCJI Championship tournament will be awarded by an electronic draw for all to see in real time on our site. This should take place in mid January of each year, giving the club that will be awarded the championship ample time to develop a grand tournament that we expect will encourage many to attend. The fact that the drawing will take place mid January should be a motivator to renew your club membership’s early. USA Judo coach’s certification and other USA/NCJI judo certifications all take place in January, so most will have one renewal date to remember.

As your NCJI President, I can tell you that we have a great and energetic Board of Directors that is committed to excellent Judo and great programs in a very inclusive format.
