Sensei Chauvigne began his judo career in Nancy, France, near the border with Luxembourg.
He and his family were sponsored and came to America in the early 1960s. He arrived in Greensboro around 1965 and started his Judo club there. He taught Judo there until 1984 when he retired.
Sensei Chauvigne was a professor at UNCG, Greensboro, North Carolina and being a native of France, specialized in French related courses.
Sensei Chauvigne’s loves to be near the ocean, although he now lives in Carrboro, North Carolina. One of his pastime hobbies is, not surprisingly, sailing. He has a beach cottage on the coast and conducts sailing lessons for novice seamen.
